40-HOUR MEDIATION TRAINING

Our training is hands-on, applied practice in methods of communication and conflict resolution that we believe serves to enhance the interpersonal interactions of those who attend. Many of our participants report applying what they learn in class to their own daily interactions by the end of even the first session!

The beauty of the Solve-It! training is that it is tailored to each particular training group--during the first training session, we specifically poll the group to find out what skills they feel they need in their “tool box” for their municipal or community service - we then supplement the training to meet these needs. The overall setting of the training is very informal and discussion-oriented, led by a panel of trained Solve-It! community mediators who each offer a unique perspective into the concepts of community mediation.

Each skill set in the Solve-It! 40 Hour Basic Mediation Training is taught with interactive exercises drawn from mediation resources world-wide, and all practice role-plays are drawn from actual Solve-It! cases. We provide comprehensive training materials, as well as relevant articles / best practices information from other states. Upon reviewing our 40 hour course, the National Association for Community Mediation in Washington, D.C. awarded us a training grant--the first of its kind in Arizona and one of only 20 awarded in the nation.

Solve-It! currently has three annual scholarships (for the FULL price of the training: a $650.00 value!) available to those who wish to take the training, but have financial need. These scholarships are highly competitive and are selected by the Board of Directors based upon the applicant’s desire to learn and promote community conflict resolution through volunteerism. There is one scholarship available per training course. To download the Training Scholarship Application, click here. Please plan ahead of time to make the time commitment to the 40-Hour training ofyour choice, should you receive a scholarship.
